So here we go again with the draw of finals upon us. The semester is two days from being over, and still I am not completely ready for it to be. I have three finals to take and have studied for 0 of them. I suppose I should study, but the call to study is short lived for the headache it creates outweighs the need to study. So here I sit content with the fact that by not studying I will not get that next grade up.
And yet this does not bother me. Why?, you ask. Well to be honest, I just don’t know the answer to that one. Maybe its because I have found from previous tests that the more I study the more the information gets clouded in my brain, or longer before the test I study I forget the small details. So here I still sit and wait for tomorrow night to arrive so I may begin my studies for two of the three.
Know with who knows what the was out of the way I can go on. Finals is a strange time of year around campus. It feels as if everyone changes their mood and their personalities the last week of classes and then into finals. I am unsure of the unnecessary stressing over finals. I can understand if it is the breaker for the class. Yet would you not rather go through the whole semester preparing for a final you know is going to be the breaker. If you do not do this I feel you will never be ready for the final.
One of the greatest things that I have found to work is to prepare for the final from day one of the class. The first day you should go in and ask the professor if they have a study guide for the final prepared so that you may prepare yourself for the final and by doing so you will also do better on the mid-term and other tests taking leading up to the final. If no study guide is available make one on your own for each chapter or subject you cover. After each test organize the questions into a study guide and learn the material before and after and have an understanding of the main points from each chapter/section.
If you do this you will be preparing yourself from day one for the last day. Then as the final approaches you will be prepared and you will not stress as much as you would have not preparing. Oh how many times I have prepared from day one and on the day of the test it goes by with out a hitch and I have no worries.
With out the unnecessary stress in your life during finals you will be able to focus more on the materials to cover and you will not have a massive shut down the day of the tests.
I know because I have went and taken finals in both matters in the same semester and the class that I prepared for all along was much easier than the class I had to cram the last few weeks.
Take it or leave it but that’s my advice, for what it’s worth.
